When the Pequannock Township Fire Department of New Jersey contacted Strong Man about using our warehousing facility to train their members, we jumped at the chance to help our community.
Our building is 128,000 sq. ft. and filled with tarps, netting and debris enclosures we ship out across the nation, so it gave our firefighters a good hands-on experience as to what they could face in the event of a warehouse fire. The drills helped them familiarize themselves with the building’s layout and gave them an opportunity to practice maneuvering the heavy hoses around racks and inventory.
While much of what took place was standard training, like firing a water cannon and inspecting roof fire safety, one of the more impressive drills was when they deployed fire hoses from the trucks and ran them down the warehouse aisles. The goal was to help them learn how much hose would be needed to stretch from the parking lot to the rear of the building.
We want to thank Harry Barany, fire inspector of Pequannock Township, for sharing this great opportunity with us. And to our dedicated and brave Pequannock Township fire fighters—Stay Strong!
