September is here, and folks all around the country are once again following their favorite football teams—reading stats, eyeing competitors, even keeping up with next year’s recruits. But, those in the construction field have been given another set of statistics to follow, and it’s good news for every team involved. The Dodge Momentum Index, or DMI, continues its upward trend for the fourth month in a row—the first such string of increases since late 2014.
In short, the DMI is a monthly measure of the first (or initial) report for nonresidential building projects in planning. It functions as a 12-month leading indicator that allows for planning across the construction industry, and even functions as a key input into our nation’s GDP.
Because the construction industry is so seasonally affected, the Dodge Index helps companies like Strong Man stay abreast of industry needs, ensuring we have the proper inventory to meet demand. This year, the construction market is showing strength, even headed out of the summer months. Despite July showing only a modest increase, June numbers were strong, meaning projects unfolding in that month will require our products this winter—especially scaffolding wrap and snow and drainage tarps.
Keeping an eye on the industry overall provides us with the proper insights to meet customers’ needs each season and predict which products to have on hand. We don’t just manufacture our products and shove them out the door. We’re conscious of what’s needed, and spend our energy improving those specific products and ensuring they are the best they can be by the time they arrive on your jobsite.
If you want more information on what types of products you’ll require for winter construction, give us a call at 1-800-950-6999. We’re always happy to help folks plan ahead of time, and we’ll even provide you with the information you’ll need to locate a Strong Man distributor near you.
Till then, enjoy these last few weeks of warmth. We certainly will be.
