When one of our long-time, valued customers works on a project of biblical proportions, well, we can’t help but do a little bragging.
The Return of an Icon
We’ve enjoyed a 14-plus-year relationship with Philadelphia-based Superior Scaffold Services. Recently, Superior Scaffold was brought in by a general contractor to provide the scaffolding and shoring support for the massive renovation of the 10-story, $44 million redevelopment of the Divine Lorraine Hotel. Built in 1892, the Divine Lorraine is one of Philadelphia’s iconic symbols. The renovation returns the Divine Lorraine to her late 19th century roots as an apartment building. The renovated landmark now boasts more than 100 luxury apartments and 20,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space.
That’s a Wrap
Superior Scaffold provided approximately 120-lineal feet of system scaffold. The immense scaffold system was 128’ high by 120’ long and ran the entire length of the building on Broad Street. The company tapped Strong Man to provide the debris netting for the project. We brought in our strong, yet economical SBN-324. The debris-netting-enclosed scaffolding, established a wind barrier and protected pedestrians and workers from debris.
The Divine Lorraine Hotel Returns
The Divine Lorraine closed in 1999 and has suffered from vandalism, graffiti and general neglect. But, thanks to an immense and complex renovation—and the vision of many—Philadelphia’s most historic building is returning to the limelight.
